Promotion of Agriculture Mechanization in Punjab

Government of the Punjab Agriculture Department through Extension Wing  implemented this project. The objective of the project was to transform the available existing farm power to mechanize farm operations with the inoculation of much needed agriculture implements/machines. Under this project a set of implements for different farm operations for tillage, seed bed preparation, sowing, spraying and introduction of special tools for manual harvesting of sugarcane were provided to farmers on 50% subsidy during 2015-16 and 2016-17. The implements with no. of each is 4944 Disc Harrows, seed cum fertilizer drill, rotavator, chisel plough, 1830 sugarcane ridgers, 24548 sugarcane knives were provided to farmers on subsidy and 55512 hollow cone nozzles were provided to farmers free of cost.

Cost: Rs 1166.000 million

Targets achieved     

  • 3492 Disc Harrows against the target of 4944 provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  • 3679 Rotavators against the target of 4944 provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  • 3286 Seed cum Fertilizer Rabi Drills against the target of 4944 provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  • 3122 Chisel Ploughs against the target of 4944 provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  • 1348 Sugarcane Ridgers against the target of 1830  provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  • 26998 Sugarcane Knives against the target of 24548 provided to farmers on 50% subsidy
  •  55512 Hollow Cone Nozzles for cotton villages against the Target of 55512 were provided free of cost.
